Cooking Up Change: Boehringer Cares Foundation and World Central Kitchen’s Recipe for Fighting Hunger

In a powerful display of solidarity against hunger, the Boehringer Cares Foundation has formed a dynamic partnership with World Central Kitchen’s (WCK) efforts to provide nourishing meals in response to crises. Our joint efforts aim to ensure food reaches anyone in need following a disaster, in service of Boehringer Ingelheim’s sustainability goals aimed at helping millions of people worldwide live longer, healthier lives.

At Boehringer Ingelheim, we believe that innovation can emerge from our everyday experiences and observations. As Robert Anderson, President of Boehringer Cares, aptly puts it, “innovation can come from anywhere.” This principle is mirrored in our support of WCK, where we focus on breaking down complex problems into manageable solutions.

At the heart of this collaboration lies a shared commitment to innovation, sustainable solutions, community support and compassion. Through our respective missions, we recognize the transformative power of food in uplifting communities and restoring hope in times of crisis. In response to natural disasters and humanitarian crises, World Central Kitchen ensures that fresh, nourishing meals reach people who need them most, providing physical and mental strength during these hard times.

Highlights of Our Partnership

The Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation has a long-standing tradition of supporting organizations that address unmet community needs. Through our work with WCK, we have been able to provide aid to relief efforts including:

  • Earthquake Relief in Turkey and Syria.
  • Support in Ukraine for communities suffering from attacks.
  • Helped the hardest-hit communities in Vermont recover from severe flooding.
  • Ongoing Efforts in Gaza, delivering thousands of meals to affected families.
  • Aid during the 2022 Mississippi Water Crisis (30,000+ water bottles delivered).

We invite you to join us in supporting WCK and our shared mission to provide hope to communities in need, one plate of food at a time. As WCK’s founder, Chef José Andrés explains, “If you try to fix the whole problem, you will collapse from how big it is.” While we can’t tackle the entire issue at once, each of us can contribute in small ways that collectively make a big impact. Together, we can make a significant difference in the fight against hunger and help build stronger, healthier communities – empowering them to thrive.
