Our Charity Partners

Meet the good causes we support that improve human and animal health.

At Boehringer Ingelheim, we believe in the power of partnership and giving back to our communities. Here in Ireland, the health and well-being of people and animals underpin our business, so we feel it’s important to champion the fantastic work of organisations that share our values and vision through our ‘Charity of the Year’ initiative.

As nominated and voted for by our employees, we are proud to be supporting Dogs for the Disabled and Children’s Health Foundation throughout 2023 and 2024. These charities are helping make a positive impact on the lives of both animals and people by helping people with disabilities lead more independent lives, and funding medical research and vital life-saving equipment.

Find out more about both charities below and learn about how the support they offer is helping to create meaningful, lasting change that will continue to transform lives for generations.

Dogs for the Disabled

Dogs for the Disabled is a unique charity helping to improve the lives of children and adults living with physical disabilities in Ireland. Since 2007, they have been training specially selected assistance dogs.

Providing more than just companionship, they empower their owners to achieve greater independence, break down barriers to the outside world, improve confidence and reduce stress levels.

Each assistance dog is trained to help their new partner’s specific needs but is also reliant on them to provide for their needs including exercise, feeding, love and care. As a result, the bond encourages the owner to become more active by taking their assistance dog for walks and engaging with the community.

For those dogs that do not qualify after the assistance programme, the charity will retrain them to be therapy dogs and will play an important role in community healthcare settings.

Children's Health Foundation

Children's Health Foundation is a vital force in supporting sick children and their families throughout Ireland, providing essential funds to hospitals and care centres such as Crumlin, Temple Street, Connolly, and Tallaght.

Their goal is to give every sick child the best possible chance by funding life-saving equipment and essential support, as well as promoting and supporting pioneering research into childhood illnesses and well-being.

The Foundation also recognizes the importance of joy and laughter in the healing process, offering play therapy to lift the spirits of those in their care. From wards and theatres to research centres and beyond, Children's Health Foundation makes an ongoing positive impact on the lives of sick children and their families, enabling medical teams to provide world-class treatment and care.
