Boehringer Ingelheim introduces another swine vaccine combination

The U.S. swine team launched a vaccine combination this month to protect pigs from two of the most common viruses that disrupt reproductive health.

FLEX ParvoPRRS® has been proven effective for the vaccination of healthy swine ages six months or older against reproductive failure caused by Porcine Parvovirus (PPV) and reproductive disease caused by Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) virus.

It is the second time this year that the U.S. swine team has introduced an innovative vaccine combination.

“The swine team has worked hard to deliver solutions that benefit our customers and protect our food supply,” said Lara Sheeley, who leads the U.S. swine team at Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health. “We are dedicated to a world in which no animal suffers from a preventable disease.”

Just a few months ago, the U.S. swine team launched FLEX CircoPRRS®. It protects pigs in one shot from Porcine Circovirus Type 2 (PCV2) and the virus that causes Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS). Those viruses can hinder performance, impair the immune system and make pigs more susceptible to other diseases.

FLEX ParvoPRRS® offers the promise of healthier breeding herds and larger litters by maximizing reproductive health and productivity.

Customers receive the combination vaccine in a box containing two bottles of Boehringer Ingelheim products – Reprocyc® ParvoFLEX and Ingelvac PRRSFLEX® MLV. Customers mix those products together to create FLEX ParvoPRRS®.

The new combination vaccine supports mass vaccination protocols in breeding herds and is safe for every state of lactation and gestation. It should not be used for boars of breeding age.
