A legacy in the making: Working together to spark meaningful change
At our company, colleagues have a passion for helping others through their work and by giving back. One of these employees is Jim Hunsicker, the executive director of value and access solutions within our Human Pharma team and an avid advocate for volunteering.

Jim volunteers through Skills2Give, a volunteer-based program with our Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation (Boehringer Cares) that pairs colleagues with nonprofits providing critical services to communities around the world. Employees are matched with volunteer activities based on their expertise and causes they’re passionate about.
Reflecting on his experience, Jim said, “Skills2Give is a fantastic platform to use your skills and talents to advance meaningful causes. It’s incredibly easy to get involved and make a real difference in people’s lives."
With Skills2Give, Jim leverages his knowledge in human resources, management, marketing, organizational design and graphic design to nonprofit organizations across important causes, like enhancing science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education and tackling food insecurity. A few that Jim has volunteered with include:
Westchester Science & Engineering Fair providing creative strategies to encourage more partners and judges to participate in the fair allowing high school students to showcase their research to STEM experts. This visibility helps invest in student development and inspires them to reach their achievements.
Quinnipiac University where he volunteers as a campus ambassador. Jim teaches future generations about sustainability, including our Sustainable Development for Generations (SD4G) efforts and how we can all work together to contribute to a healthier world.
Hillside Food Outreach with his family to deliver food to senior citizens in the Danbury, CT area. Hillside Food Outreach is a long-standing partner of Boehringer Cares. Employees may volunteer together to donate food items as well as time to make monthly deliveries, promoting food security for a vulnerable population.
