Play the Garbage Game!

Created by Boehringer Ingelheim’s MORE GREEN initiative to promote environmental awareness

Giant garbage patches floating in the oceans, turtles tangled up in abandoned fishing nets and traces of plastics in the flesh of fish eaten by humans: the bandwidth of issues associated with garbage ending up in our oceans is broad. Although the devastating effects on marine animals and the environment are well-known, the amount of garbage and plastic found in our oceans has continuously increased over the years.

Plastic pollution is one of the most serious threats to the world’s oceans. Recent research estimates that between 4.8 and 12.7 million metric tons of (plastic) garbage end up in our oceans every year - a significant health threat to the various sea animals and the entire marine ecosystem (Science 2015).

As a global and family owned company, we plan in generations. Wherever we are active, we feel responsible for our communities and are respectful of our resources. Therefore, we support environmental protection to serve the needs of future generations. Our goal is to create environmental awareness to improve pro-environmental attitudes, behavior and habits within our company. We believe that encouraging pro-environmental behavior at work can help to enhance environmental protection.

Find out how long it takes for garbage to dissolve in the oceans!

This game was created by the MORE GREEN initiative of Boehringer Ingelheim to raise awareness for the importance of correct garbage disposal and marine conservation.
