Prize Winners

In 2005 and 2006 the Boehringer Ingelheim APOPIS Awards for Young Researchers were presented prior to established international Research & Development conferences.

The presentation of the 2006 Boehringer Ingelheim APOPIS Awards took place on 22 July 2006 at a satellite symposium prior to the 10th International Conference on Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders (ICAD 2006) in Madrid (Spain).

Prize for outstanding achievements obtained by a single research group:
Regina Fluhrer

The scientist from the University of Munich (Germany) received the prize for new insights into basic mechanisms relevant in Alzheimer's disease.

Prize for a collaborative project with in the consortium:
  • Julie van der Zee
  • Ilse Gijselinck
  • Samir ar-Singh
  • Marc Uts

These four young scientists worked in the laboratory of Christine van Broeckhoven at the University of Antwerp (Belgium) and Isabelle Le Ber from the laboratory of Alexis Brice at the Institut Nationale de la Santé et de la Récherche Médicale in Paris (France).

The 2005 Boehringer Ingelheim APOPIS Awards were presented to three young researchers for their efforts in investigating abnormal protein aggregation in neurodegenerative diseases at the 7th International Conference on Progress in Alzheimer's and Parkinson Disease in Sorrento (Italy).

The three prize winners 2005:

  • Rosa Rademakers, Antwerp (Belgium)
  • Martin Herzig, Basle (Switzerland)
