Training programmes at Boehringer Ingelheim
- Boehringer Ingelheim Academy
- Our Academy provides essential support to our leaders in creating an organisational environment in which people can excel. It offers a wide range of managerial and leadership support as well as a large number of programmes that address professional skills development.
- MBA and further qualification programmes
- We encourage and support our employees to participate in external programmes with selected universities and business schools for further qualification purposes. This includes MBA courses and other courses which lead to obtaining complimenting diplomas and further academic degrees. The selection of suitable MBA courses or an academic course follows a consultation between the employee, supervisor and local human resources department.
- General management and executive education
- The development of our leaders through general management and executive education programmes provided at a number of leading international business schools has a long and successful tradition at Boehringer Ingelheim.
- Competency and skill evaluation support
- Our employees can attain regular and systematic evaluation of their competencies and skills. This involves a self-evaluation process, a supervisory assessment and an online 360° feedback process to all employees depending on the individual needs and preferences. The model called "Boehringer Ingelheim Corporate Competency Model" is built upon "How we deliver Value through Innovation by leading & learning". It is designed to support employee development and can be applied either fully or partially to assist in identifying prioritised areas of development and tangible learning objectives.
- Leadership development
- In the selection and development of our leaders social competence, language abilities and international experience play a significant role alongside strong professional skills. We help our leaders to develop in an international environment. Local and international leadership workshops or seminars are held to encourage leaders to reflect on their own leadership understanding and behaviour in their everyday working environment. The approach which is build around "Lead & Learn" which is about how we want to work together supports individuals in discovering ways which will enable them to create better outcomes as leaders and to foster our corporate culture. Leadership seminars can be complimented with individual and peer coaching approaches.
- International Management Development Programme (IMDP)
- Our understanding is that those who lead have a special responsibility to those they lead, to their area of activity and to the corporation as a whole. True leaders know that their leadership will shape the future and drive our success. We develop our internal employees for these responsibilities through our internal action-learning initiative called "International Management Development Programme (IMDP)". Every two years we launch a 14-month IMDP for more than 100 high-achievers from within the corporation. Eligible are internal candidates from all working areas and countries who have the potential to reach higher levels of management responsibility and who are performance-driven professionals.
The programme has been designed to give the candidates a broader perspective of our Boehringer Ingelheim global business world and of themselves when dealing with complex issues in an international environment. The IMDP is a platform for its internal participants to develop international managerial and leadership competencies, to share ideas and work together towards a common goal to play a leading part in ensuring the competitive future of Boehringer Ingelheim.
Our fourth consecutive International Management Development Programme, which has just been launched in May 2007, involves participants in hands-on work on 16 strategically relevant projects, close professional mentoring and frequent exposure to senior management in various countries.
